SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH—Recently there has been some controversy over the social media platform Facebook, regarding privacy issues with its millions of users. Though the company is getting older, as it was founded all the way back in July 2004 by CEO to date, Mark Zuckerberg. The company has about 1.2 billion active users to date, but many are starting to complain about the media empire. People seem to be upset because they feel as though that Facebook knows more about them than they might have thought. Many people have even started a campaign, for example the hashtag #DeleteFacebook has been trending of recent. Facebook does use analytics, like most sites do to see the stats of how much people are attracted to their content, but people are allowed to change there settings for this to adjust it to their liking. Facebook is not alone though as Facebook has acquired different companies and other social platforms over the years, for example one of Facebook’s most famous to date was the acquiring of Instagram back in April of 2012, so one of the biggest, if not the biggest question here is that, if Facebook has people upset over this, who’s to say that other platforms do not do the same, especially since we know that Facebook has OWNED Instagram, one of the top rated social media sites as of now for about 6 years this coming April. Even if Facebook does not own all of them, it might not really matter because they could be doing the same thing too. So, when people get upset over the Facebook controversy, you may just want to keep it in your mind that others could be doing this as well.
